DENIED BOARDING COMPENSATION
Passengers' Rights in Cases Of Overbooking
When Airlines Wish to Deny Boarding to Selected
Passengers
In case an airline flight is overbooked,
passengers have important rights guaranteed by federal
law. It is important that you not only know what your
rights are, but also be able to show proof of your rights to
gate agents, flight attendants, and even the cockpit crew if
necessary.
This information may help to prevent yourself from being
denied boarding in some situations, to obtain compensation
required by law if you are denied boarding, and perhaps to
prevent unfair treatment of other passengers. It contains
the text of rules adopted by the FAA, and states current federal
law.
The link below will download a PDF file consisting TWO (2)
pages. You may download it for free, and there are no
cookies or other information-gathering mechanisms.
Once downloaded, you should print the first page of the PDF
file on one side of a piece of paper, and then print the second
page of the PDF file on the other side of the same sheet of
paper. Then cut out the portion of the page with printing
on it. You should now be able to fold the two-sided
document (with printing on both side) twice (two folds) to
create a credit-card sized "card" which should fit into a wallet
or purse.
It is suggested that you leave this "card" in your wallet
or purse, along with all the other cards you carry, so it will
always be available should you need it.
